Velatia’s head of talent took part in the round table Best Practices on Competencies and Talent Management<\/em>, where she described the challenges in terms of attracting and retaining talent in the company<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The round table Best Practices on Competencies and Talent Management<\/em>, organised by Euskalit<\/a> on the occasion of the European Week of Advanced Management, served as a stage to learn about the great challenges that Velatia faces, as an industrial, technological and family company, when it comes to attracting and retaining talent. Raquel Boyero, head of Velatia’s talent area, explained the strategy and actions being developed to solve the need to “awaken vocation and interest in the industrial sector”, a sector with “a shortage of technical, technological and industrial talent”, as she argued.<\/p>\n

Raquel Boyero explained how we should approach initiatives to attract talent with a focus on the long term, “sow now to be able to harvest later”, a motto that explains the organisation’s collaboration in initiatives such as the Erronka Programme, run by the Federation of Metal Companies of Bizkaia (FVEM, as it is known in Spanish). The aim of this programme is to bring the company closer to educational centres in order to awaken the professional interest of young people in Bizkaia in the industrial sector as an attractive sector in which to develop their professional careers, giving special visibility to the role of women in such sector.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, and in relation to the work done to attract talent, the Boyero highlighted the importance of the Employer Branding area, as “we want to be the chosen ones and we want to increase our attractiveness as an employer brand through our own differential value proposition<\/a>“. With this, Raquel described to the audience the work carried out in this area of employer branding since 2018, “when we got down to work in this area”.<\/p>\n

In addition, Raquel Boyero wanted to highlight the importance of “the loyalty of our people”, so she presented the different initiatives promoted by Velatia, such as a new leadership model and internal development programmes for young people and internal development of consolidated talent. All of this in order to “generate an organisational culture that fosters the commitment and bonding of the people who work in our organisation”.<\/p>\n

The round table was also attended by Irune Rodr\u00edguez Corral, People Technician and Head of Professional Development at APNABI; Mireya Garc\u00eda Blave, Director of APNABI’s People Department; and Iratxe Tajada, Coordinator of Professional Development Programmes for Young Talent, Bizkaia Talent.<\/p>\n
