In a talk on the role of women in the industry, <\/strong>the<\/strong> Director of the Talent Area at Velatia highlighted the different external and internal initiatives in which Velatia participates to attract and promote female talent<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Raquel Boyero, Director of the Talent Area at Velatia, took part in a round table discussion organised by PWN Bilbao (Professional Women’s Network)<\/a> during the Biennial Machine Tool Exhibition (BIEMH) on the morning of 15 June, together with other prominent voices from the regional industry such as Teresa Laespada, Provincial Councillor for Employment, Social Inclusion and Equality of Bizkaia; Sonia Garai, Chief Human Resources Officer of Arteche; Est\u00edbaliz Linares, Inspira STEAM of the University of Deusto; Bego\u00f1a Etxebarria, General Director of the Novia Salcedo Foundation; Naiara Vidal, Coordinator of the Master in Digital Manufacturing of the IMG Campus; and Alba Estanyol, Coordinator of Ikaslan Bizkaia.<\/p>\n

The talk focused on the role of women in the industry and the different strategies that companies carry out to achieve labour representation. Thus, Raquel admitted that “at Velatia we are aware of the lack of attraction that the industrial environment generates in women and we are very sensitive to this issue”.<\/p>\n

Given this premise, the Director of Velatia’s Talent Area emphasised Velatia’s collaboration and participation in various external programmes such as ERRONKA, “with the aim of awakening the interest of young people in industry, especially women”, or INSPIRA, “to awaken STEM vocations among women”. Several female colleagues from the group take part in these programmes and talk about their own experiences, their professional development in the company or the importance of the role of women in the industry, so that the participating female students have a point of reference”.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Boyero highlighted “Velatia’s commitment to the training and development of female internal talent<\/a>“, for which Velatia implements “development programmes aimed at young talent newly recruited into the organisation, where 44% of the participants are women”. In addition to other programmes such as mentoring for the development of other groups of professional profiles, where 39% of the mentees are women, and where “42% of the mentors are women; this means that some of our most experienced professionals, with interesting professional careers, with positions of responsibility, with leadership roles, once again become a reference for other women in the company”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
